Senior Estimator | Cork, Ireland | Full Time | €85,000–€90,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience
Our client is a well-established Irish construction company with over 60 years of experience delivering high-quality projects across commercial, industrial and residential sectors. Their reputation is built on quality, integrity, innovation and long-term relationships with clients and supply chain partners.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team and play a key role in securing and delivering exciting projects throughout Ireland.
The Role
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for projects ranging from €1 million to €40 million. You will work closely with directors, design teams, project managers and supply chain partners to develop winning tender submissions while identifying opportunities for value engineering and innovation.
Projects include:
- Industrial and logistics warehouses
- Large-scale residential developments
- Office developments
- High-end commercial fit-outs
- Healthcare and mixed-use developments
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Analyse drawings, specifications and contract documents
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Carry out quantity take-offs and cost planning
- Identify risks and opportunities within tender documents
- Develop value engineering proposals
- Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings
- Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors throughout the tender process
- Assist with budgeting, cost planning and procurement strategies
- Support the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of market rates and industry trends
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an estimating role within the construction industry
- Proven track record pricing projects valued between €1 million and €40 million
- Strong understanding of Irish construction methods, contracts and procurement
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tenders
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Full driving licence
Desirable
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline
- Experience with Design & Build and traditional procurement projects
- Knowledge of value engineering and modern construction techniques
